Stone Print – Turtle
Rasha’s artistic style pays tribute to the traditional carvings of her homeland of Yemen and Sufi Islamic art, as well as European 19th century realism and post-impressionism. This A5 print is the result of a long and careful process – to begin with, Rasha carves her intricate designs into a block of slate stone, before using this to create her series of layered prints.
This design is printed onto Kuzo paper and is of a hawksbill turtle – one of the most endangered species of turtles. They are found in Rasha’s hometown of Aden, and are especially important to her. She has previously worked to raise funds for a nonprofit in Aden which protects the turtles there.
