FOUNDER OF MAZAL BEAUTY & WELLNESS
Nejat is a talented beauty therapist from Eritrea, who has been working as a self-employed beautician in London since 2018. She left Eritrea when she was 14 due to the country’s unsafe circumstances at the time, travelling through Sudan and the Sinai Desert for 5 months before living in Israel for 5 years. In Israel she qualified as a beauty therapist before coming to the UK. She chose to qualify in beauty as she didn’t have the chance to access formal education when she was young. The word Mazal means ‘lucky’, and reflects her feelings on surviving her journey and arriving the UK – she feels lucky to be here as a beauty therapist and to provide treatment as well as friendship for her clients.
In her spare time she loves to listen to jazz music and her favourite singers, including Jacques Brel, Nina Simone and Amy Winehouse. She’s also inspired by the writing of Rhonda Byrne, especially her self-reflection book “The Secret”.
Nejat launched Mazal Beauty & Wellness as a treatment room in Brixton in 2019. She is a talented and qualified nail artist and Mazal Beauty & Wellness offers Shellac, Gelish, OPI and DND manicures and pedicures, as well as gel nails.
Recently, Mazal Beauty & Wellness have been able to expand into other treatments including deep tissue and Swedish massage and a selection of facials. Their goal is to open up a new store in Brixton Market by the end of 2020.
