Majeda is a chef, human rights and feminist activist from Syria, who came to the UK in 2017 after being imprisoned and having to leave her home country because of her human rights work. Since arriving in London, she has used her food as a way of bringing people together and raising awareness about the effects of the war in Syria on its civilian population.


2hr Online Cooking Class

Discover the rich flavours of Syrian cuisine with Majeda. Learn how to make, and the history of, traditional Syrian dishes like Mutabal (grilled aubergines), Horaa Esbao (lentils) and sweet desserts like Halawet Jebn. Classes are 2hrs and hosted on Zoom (video call).

Syrian Sunflower brings together Syrian flavours and activism. From cooking classes to raise awareness about human rights violations in Syria when she first came to the UK, to hosting supper clubs and events raising money for charities supporting relief efforts, Majeda is passionate about engaging her guests and clients to increase awareness of the situation in Syria.
